L’Occitane Desert Rose Lip Balm: Review, Swatch and Photos

The summer season is still in full swing and the scorching heat of the sun is not making it any better for my lips! I love the idea of applying lip balms but I honestly don’t like putting one on since most of them are very tacky to wear and some even suck out all the moisture in my lips. Zane is a lip balm junkie and her Burt’s Bees’ Medicated Lip Balm with Clove Oil currently rules her world. I am yet to find a lip balm product to keep my lips hydrated and pillow soft at all times. Last week, I had a chance to try out this limited edition lip balm from L’Occitane. I’ve been using this lip balm for almost a week now and I gotta say I’m loving it!

What Is It?

L’Occitane Desert Rose Lip Balm ($12.00) is a paraben-free lip balm that promises to help keep lips hydrated and protected from being dry and chapped. Infused with 10% Shea Butter, this limited edition lip balm is designed to help your lips restore its lost moisture while keeping it soft and supple. It bears the “EcoCert” badge indicating that all the ingredients used to make this product are all natural and organic. It is housed in a standard squeeze tube packaging with a screw top cap.

Why I’m Loving It?

I’ve been using this old rose scented lip balm for about 6 days now and I am absolutely thrilled with it! One of the things that I really like about this product is that it’s very comfortable to wear. The light and gel-like formula of L’Occitane Desert Rose Lip Balm doesn’t have that waxy feel and stickiness to it but still hangs on for over 3 hours before it would necessitate reapplication. It makes my lips pillow-soft and completely hydrated. Unlike other lip balms, it makes my lips shiny the way a regular lip gloss would which I particularly like. Having that gloss-like shine quality on a lip balm means you can wear this alone while still having that extra “oomph” on the lips without wearing an actual gloss.

The scent is gorgeous! Then again I maybe partial since I love anything that smells gourmand and vanillic. The packaging dispenses the product well and makes it very easy to travel with since the screw top cap is very secured ensuring it won’t get squeezed all over the place.

Overall, L’Occitane Desert Rose Lip Balm delivers what it promises to do and does it really well. Unfortunately, this one is limited edition so I’m not sure how I can repurchase it. Good thing, L’Occitane offers a wide range of lip balms and salves so I’ll be checking out those once I run out of this balmy wonder. If you like lip balms that are easy to wear with light consistency, this is worth checking out. It’s a little pricey compared to drugstore and other mid to high end brands but I must say it’s all worth it.

Have you tried using L’Occitane lip balms? Share your thoughts!
